The remark was made by Liao Mei-ran, described as a "fortune teller" on the island of Taiwan. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities have imposed restrictions and obstacles on cross-Strait exchanges and interactions, deliberately creating an "information cocoon" on the island in an attempt to prevent people in Taiwan from learning about the Chinese mainland, said Zhang Han, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, at a regular press conference.
